Imagine being a Full-Time Nurse in Chicago, one of the biggest cities in the US, and on the front-lines during this pandemic.

40 hour work weeks are a thing of the past.

12-16+ hour workdays aren’t uncommon.

This is the current reality of my friend April Harkness.

I’ve known April for years because she used to comment on my original fitness blog way back in 2007-2008.

I lost touch with her until she picked up Visual Impact Kettlebells.

Shortly before starting our course, she snapped a “before” picture.

This picture was taken at the beginning of August 2020.

*April gave me permission to share this here and use her name because she wants to inspire others.

She has kept somewhat lean most of her life but…

The intense stress of work during the first 6-7 months of Covid caused her to eat more than normal.

She put on some weight.

She also tells me she was too exhausted to train.

April is 44 years old…

When you are in your mid-40’s stress and overeating can contribute to belly fat.

You don’t have youthful hormones to keep you lean.

April took these photos because she decided it was time for a change. She began our kettlebell program shortly after snapping this first picture.

Her rapid transformation has been one of the most amazing I’ve witnessed.

Especially considering her age and circumstances.

Look at this!

Remember, she is 44 years old!

The pictures are impressive enough.

The most impressive part to me is that she did this while working insane hours, at a risky and super-stressful job, while being mom to a teenager.

Her time at home was extremely limited.

Because of this, she did all of her kettlebell workouts during Lunch Break at the Hospital.

The workouts in our course just take 20-30 minutes.

She’s doing a phase 3 workout from our kettlebell program.

Our workouts don’t start out this complex and ninja-like. It starts off basic but get more fancy as you progress through the phases.

The goal with our workout is a streamlined, firm, and toned body.

At the age of 44, April absolutely achieved this goal.

She is a true inspiration not only because she hit this goal… she did this under extremely stressful circumstances.

What a bad-ass!
